In this magazine you will find stories about lifestyle and travel. Together with Valentin Rudloff the project startet in August 2019 and the first issue will be released in the end of 2020. The magazine introduces designers, artists and extraordinary personalities in relation to their environment. The aim of the magazine is to provide personal stories about freedom and adventures.
Because we are both passionate photographers and designers, it is a very unique and important oportunity for us to publish a magazine. Just for the first issue we took around 1400 pictures and very clean sites provide that you can really get into the feeling of the destination.
The first issue is dedicated to the Brittany. It is a wonderfull place to experiance total freedom and just relax while feeling the power of nature. We travel a lot and visited around 15 cities in the last year, but this place was the most impressive even compared to huge places like paris, berlin or vienna.
BRISBANE Grotesk is my little font baby I created this year. Okay it’s not a complete process so instead of “created” I should better write “creat”.
However Brisbane Grotesk is a low-contrast, elegant but somehow brutal font. The model is the graphic design of Swiss Design, Bauhaus and Brutalism. The word comes from the two ancient words “brise” meaning a break, and “ban” - a bone, “break bone”. The surname, first mentioned in the 13th century, can either refer to a doctor who healed bones or was used as a nickname for someone who broke bones.
Exactly this contradiction between destroyer and healer can be found in every glyph. Uniform, transitional forms, alternate with breaks
PS: The whole booklet is printed with a riso printer. A technique I am really interested in, simply the analog thing it conveys is something truly unique. It was also important for me that I have something in my hands — my real printed letters.
